Sammy BoboApril 16, 1934 ~ November 17, 2017 (age 83)
BOBO, Sammy, age 83 of Tampa died Friday, November 17, 2017. Mr. Bobo was born in Macon, Georgia and came to Tampa in 1947 from New York. He was owner of the Blue Ribbon supermarket in Ybor City from 1947 until 2000 and served proudly in the National Guard. He was a pillar in Tampa's Jewish Community, a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, past president of the synagogue's Men's Club and at the age of 42 was the youngest to serve as the Synagogue president. He was a tireless participant in all facets of Jewish and secular life in Tampa and was honored many times locally and worldwide for his philanthropy, service and dedication. Where their was need, he put his efforts towards a common good, even helping to restructure the Chessed Shel Emes and establish Jewish Memorial Gardens, Tampa's newest Jewish Cemetery. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Rieva, children Ralph Sam & Sheryl Bobo, Silvia & Meyer Weitzman, Sheri & Matt Gable, and Debora Bobo & Debbie Williams, ten cherished grandchildren, and siblings Latifa Cohen, Chella Bobo, Pauline Rophie, Sam Marcadis, Ezra & Gloria Bobo, and Jerry Breslaw, numerous nieces and nephews and their extended loving families. Sammy will be remembered by all who knew him for his generosity, kindness and compassion. To Sammy, everyone was family. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:00 AM at Congregation Rodeph Sholom, 2713 Bayshore Boulevard, Tampa. Interment will follow at Rodeph Sholom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Rodeph Sholom or to Ring14USA.com to fund research and support for this rare syndrome.
