Carol Ann DeMarinis

Carol Ann DeMarinis, (75) of Tampa, FL, passed away on May 8, 2022. Befitting her most significant role, she left us on Mother’s Day. As a wife, she was supportive and loving; as a mother, she was protective and caring, and as a Nana, she was adoring and fun.

On July 15, 1946, Carol was born to Robert and Florence Bellows in Queens, NY. After meeting Patrick DeMarinis, they wed in 1966, and went on to raise seven beautiful children; Gary, Denise, Patrick, Dawn, Stacey, Nicholas, and Michael.

After relocating to Miami, Fl, in 1975 she decided to go back to school to get her teaching certificate, and eventually complete her Master's degree. All while raising seven children and driving a school bus during the day. The woman was the definition of super, not to mention cooking wonderful meals and keeping a beautiful house.

Carol was a passionate advocate for children’s education. She was a teacher for over 25+ years, ending her career as a Theology teacher at Tampa Catholic before being promoted to Assistant Principal. Even after she retired, she was constantly volunteering at schools in the Tampa Bay area, or she was taking moments with her nine grandchildren and making them teachable. Nana always had a fun craft or activity ready for when they visited.

Carol loved to love people! Ever the hostess, she cherished celebrating holidays with her friends and family. You could always walk in and be greeted with warmth and food, lots and lots of delicious food! Her happy place was the beach, floating in the water with a drink in her hand. Some of our best memories are our family vacations, with big meals, happy hour in the sand, waking up to massive breakfasts (she joked that she was a short order cook) and plenty of late nights spent laughing, reliving fun family moments and listening to the Eagles.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Donald and Robert and her in-laws, Nicholas and Beradina DeMarinis and her brother-in-law Dominic. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Patrick, her children Gary (Heather) DeMarinis, Denise (Jeff) Day, Patrick (Amy) DeMarinis, Dawn DeMarinis, Nicholas (Diana) DeMarinis, Michael DeMarinis, and Stacey (Gus) McSween, and her ten grandchildren Vincent, Joseph, Jackson, Jake, Rocco, Jackson, Anthony, Luca, Max, and Gabriella.

To all of those who loved Carol and were loved by her, there will be a visitation on Wednesday evening, May 11th from 6-8pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a Catholic mass held on Thursday morning May 12th at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (509 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33602

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa Bay.

“Goodbye is not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you, until we meet again”

“You are stronger than you think” Love, Nana
