Deborah “Debbie” L. Scott, beloved mother and grandmother, age 67, of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2024.
A cherished and beloved member of her community, Debbie was born on January 1, 1957, in Waynesburg, PA to parents Robert Dale Cowell Sr. and Carolyn Sue Cowell. Debbie, a 1974 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School, went on to build a successful career in business office management, primarily in assisted living facilities. Debbie’s dedication to her profession and compassion for others were evident in her work, where she greatly enriched the lives of her coworkers, the residents, and their families.
Debbie was an avid reader with a particular love for mystery novels. She also enjoyed time spent at the beach, finding peace in the serenity of the ocean. Debbie cherished the time she spent with family and friends, but being 'MiMi' to her granddaughters, Isla and Brenna, was her greatest joy.
Debbie left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know and love her. She had a unique gift for making you feel like you were the most important person in her life. Debbie never missed an opportunity to send a thoughtful card, remembering all of the special days in the lives of her loved ones, and her infectious laugh had the extraordinary power to brighten even the darkest days.
She is survived by her longtime partner, Charles "Beany" Stoy; her son Jason Garber and his wife, Gretchen, her beloved granddaughters, Isla and Brenna; her mother, Carolyn Sue Cowell, and her siblings Pamela Cowell, Robert Cowell Jr., Christa (John) Matheou, and Brandon (Lindsay) Cowell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert D. Cowell Sr.
A celebration of Deborah's life will be held on September 28, 2024, at 4 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation and The Association for Frontotemporal Dementia in her memory.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Suncoast Hospice and Moffitt Cancer Center for their exceptional care and support during Deborah's illness.
Deborah’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
