Dennis Shavelson

Dr. Dennis Shavelson, DPM, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on June 1, 2025.

A respected leader in his field, Dr. Shavelson dedicated his life to advancing the practice of podiatry and biomechanics. He maintained a successful private practice and shared his expertise as an educator at the New York School for Podiatry. His commitment to excellence led him to serve as Division Chief of Podiatry at both Beth Israel Hospital and Columbia Presbyterian in New York City. Throughout his career, he authored numerous articles and professional papers that contributed significantly to the understanding of biomechanics in medicine.

Dr. Shavelson’s greatest pride, however, was his family. He was a devoted husband to Margot, a loving father to Leigh and Rachel, and a caring stepfather to Alex, Lara, and Elena. He cherished his role as grandfather to Julia, Ella, Hannah, Shea, Liam, and Levi.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Segal Funeral Home, 3909 Henderson Blvd., Tampa, FL 33629.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis' name to The American Cancer Society or Metropolitan Ministries

Dr. Shavelson will be remembered for his sharp mind, generous spirit, and the lasting impact he made on both his profession and those who loved him.
