Elizabeth Weber

WEBER, Elizabeth Joan, 86, known as "Betty", went on to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Betty crossed over after nearly a year spent at University Villages Nursing Center when, weeks ago, she developed trigeminal neuralgia, an excruciating pain in her face and, along with other agerelated illnesses, it sadly led to her body giving up the fight. Her mind stayed sharp to the end. Betty shared a home with her beloved husband, Joseph of 63 years, until her collapse. They moved to Tampa after first retiring to New Port Richey and then East Palatka, Joe's childhood town in northeast Florida, following their career years up north, mainly in Ohio. Betty was born on a dairy farm in New Era, Michigan, in a quaint centennial home in which her father was both born and died. Betty attended Wheaton College in Illinois, where she met and fell in love with fellow student Joe, who married her on November 8, 1949. Coming near, you would become aware of Betty's gorgeous smile and easy humor conversing with those around her. Betty was always active, whether attending church and social activities, enjoying with family the meals she so faithfully prepared, praying fervently for her children or inviting her grandchildren in for catching up. An avid sports fan, she loved the Tampa Bay Rays and the Bucs. Another love friends knew was her ministry of sending cards and baked goods to anyone sick or hurting. Recently, they were welcomed at their current church, Trinity A.R.P. Presbyterian, where she and Joe made many friends. Betty was an accomplished pianist and had played for churches in the past, but Trinity already had a wonderful organist so Betty was free to sit with Joe for services. In addition to dear friends who will miss this precious lady, Betty is survived by her beloved husband Joseph; four children (spouses): Joseph Jr., David (Cindy), Dawn Armstrong, and Cherie (Harvey) Schonbrun; grandchildren (spouse): Amber Elizabeth (Timmy) McDonnell, Alan Schonbrun, and Austin Schonbrun; and Betty's brothers (& spouses): Doug (Lois) Lewis, Dale (Olga) Lewis; and having been predeceased by her oldest brother and his wife, Lowell and Linda Lewis. Also predeceasing Betty was her dear son-in-law Robert Armstrong, who passed in 2005 in service to this country. Funeral services for Betty will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, with viewing before at 2:00 p.m. and a reception following, all held at Trinity A.R.P. Presbyterian Church, at 14925 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33613 (telephone: 8139615836). Flowers can be sent ahead to Segal Funeral Home (call: 8138743330) or to the church on Monday, between hours of 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the day of services. Interment will be at Garden of Memories. Pastor Jac Coad will be officiating, helping celebrate Betty's life well lived.
