Esther McCall

McCALL, Esther Jessica 93, passed peacefully to her Savior’s arms on Jan. 23, 2018.  Born July 15, 1924 in Tampa to John E. and Vera Hendrix Jessica, she matriculated at Sacred Heart Academy, where she played guard on their state-champion girl’s basketball team.  At 9 yrs old, she drove her dad’s LaSalle while he delivered milk and at 16 yrs old was the ticket girl at the Rialto Theatre on N.Franklin St., after school.  At 19, she met the love of her life, Hugh M. McCall, of Reidsville, GA, while he was stationed at Drew Field during WWII.  After raising 3 kids, she returned to work as “the face” of City Blue Print, serving customers for almost 20 years.  Later in life, she taught water aerobics (until the age of 91) at the Boys Club Pool, Bobby Hicks Pool, Interbay Pool and Loretta Ingraham Pool.  She is survived by: children, Donna (Duane) Davis, of Ramsey, MN; Janis (John) Ricci, of Clearwater; and Mark McCall, of Tampa; grandkids, Alissa (David) Arnaud, Erin McCall and Lon McCall, all of Tampa, and Zachary Davis, of Waite Park, MN; great grandkids, Tyler McCall, Angelina Arnaud and Bishop Freeman.  A Mass for the repose of her Soul will be held Tuesday, January 30th, 2:00 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa. The family will receive friends prior to the Mass beginning at 1:00 PM. Condolences may be expressed online at segalfuneralhome.com.
