Eva Gall Gruman, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025.
Born in Havana, Cuba, on December 16, 1929, to Nathan and Ester Gall, Eva moved to the United States at the age of 13. She attended Girls Latin School in Boston, Massachusetts, where she formed lasting friendships that spanned her lifetime. Eva earned her BA from Boston University and her MA from the University of Oregon.
In 1954 she married William "Bill" Gruman. Eva taught romance languages in the College of Education at UF while Bill attended UF law school. In 1957 they moved to Tampa and raised four children on Davis Island.
Eva was an avid tennis player, swimmer, scuba diver, and skier. She and Bill enjoyed traveling together to more than 60 countries. In her later years, she found joy in bridge, mah jong, book club, and social gatherings.
Eva is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Bill, her children, Margot and Ralph Marcadis, Perry and Bridget Gruman, Eric and Dana Gruman, and Elise and Gar Lippincott, as well as 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Congregation Schaarai Zedek.
