Janet Whitman

Janet Whitman, a beautiful 91 year old, blue-eyed, redhead, was proud to be the beloved wife of her soulmate and late husband, Shelly for 68 years.

Her greatest joy was being the loving mother to her four children, Todd Whitman, Cindy (the late Jerry) Rubin, Dan Whitman, and Randi (Dan Daly) Whitman. Being the always proud “Nina”, she adored her grandchildren, Jared (Maggie) Rubin, Leigh Rubin, Miles and Cecily Daly.

She was the devoted daughter to the late Ruth and Tom Portman, a cherished sister to Lavon Portman, and the late Sharon Weiner, and aunt, cousin and friend  to countless others.

She danced her way through life and overcame the odds time and time again. She loved life too much to ever give up without a fight. Her energy, drive, and positive outlook on life left many in awe, and will continue to inspire all who knew her, including the many students she taught and mentored for over 60 years.

Jan was a fierce, independent, bright, and loving lady who will live on in spirit by all whose lives she touched.
