Josef "Yosi" Motzne

Josef “Yosi “Motzne passed away on Shabbat evening, February 23, 2024. He will be missed and remembered by his children, grandchildren, great children, extended family, and friends.

Josef was born on January 12, 1931 in Kfar Saba, Israel, to Aryeh Channah Motzne. He grew up during World War II and the years immediately proceeding the establishment of the country of Israel.

Josef served in the Haganah and Palmach in the war of independence, the 1956 Suez Canal conflict, and the 1967 six day war. In between wars, of course, he would train with his units in the reserves, always ready to defend his country.

In 1971 Josef immigrated to America to provide a better opportunity for his children and grandchildren. In America, he worked as an autobody man. The family initially resided in the Baltimore area and then relocated to Florida.

Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ester, and devoted son Ziv.  He is survived by two daughters, Ofira Raduns (Kerry), Miriam, Steinberg (Michael) granddaughters, Jacklyn Steinberg (Lance), Sarah Steinberg, Ester Gardenswartz (Noah), Dr. Erica Von Stein (Peter) and great-grandsons, Moses Gardenswartz , and Nathan Gardenswartz.

A graveside service was held on February 28, 2024 at Beth Israel cemetery in Tampa Florida, where he was laid to rest next to his wife, Ester.

Josef had a lifelong love for Israel, and would have wished for donations to be made in his honor and memory to any organization, which supports Israel or the people of Israel.
