In loving memory of Miriam Karlin Nordlinger, a beautiful and vibrant soul that left us too soon.
Miriam was born November 28, 1951 and raised in Vineland, New Jersey. She devoted her career to assisting people affected by mental health. With a Masters Degree in Nursing and in Business Administration, she was CEO of Charter Psychiatric Hospitals in Charlotte, NC, and Pasco County Florida, and worked at Boley Centers, a not-for-profit providing services to community members in need. She dedicated her career to Boley Centers for over 16 years, rising to the position of Chief Operating Officer and making a difference in so many lives.
After moving to Tampa, Florida, Miriam eventually settled there and was an active part of the community for over 35 years. Her fun-loving, social personality brought joy to many as she was actively involved in her tennis club, book club, and very talented in creating pottery. Miriam’s infectious energy was exemplified through her love and connection with her pirate family, The Bonney-Read Krewe. A member for over 18 years, she received the Krewe’s highest honor of Anne Bonney in 2014. She was also an esteemed mentor and role model to many.
Miriam fiercely loved her family and loved spending time with them. Her precious grandchildren, Camden and Taylor, referred to her as “Mimi” and she was a staple, always rooting them on at their sports games and school events. At home, Mimi shared her passion for gardening with Camden and Taylor, encouraging them to pick their favorite vegetables and herbs from her garden. You would regularly see her and her husband, Art, biking around town on their tandem bicycle, “Bee Happy”, and attending tandem rallies with friends. They also loved to travel, exploring new destinations across the world and visiting loved ones throughout the country. She lived a very active and healthy lifestyle, and the world is a better place because she was here.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and selflessness. She is survived by her husband Art Nordlinger; children and stepchildren Lindsey Mirabal, Sam Nordlinger, and Elizabeth Nordlinger; grandchildren Camden, Taylor, and Mark; and siblings Jay Einstein, Beth Novick, and Sylvan Einstein. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Bernice and Nardy Einstein.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boley Centers or Congregation Schaarai Zedek.
Miriam’s Celebration of Life service will be held at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 W Swann Ave on Thursday, 12/14, at 3:15 PM.
