Nina Jane Sinsley

SINSLEY, Nina Jane (Garber) 82, of Atlanta, GA left us peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Born August 7, 1940, in the Bronx, New York City, and residing most of her life in Tampa, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred Garber. A passionate artist and selfless educator of special needs and homebound and hospitalized students, she used her artistic skills and educational prowess and was an invaluable creator of specialized curricula at both St. Joseph's Pediatric Oncology Ward and the USF Pediatric Psychiatry Ward. She was a proud graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts (formerly Music and Art), the University of Tampa, and the University of South Florida with her Master's Degree. Nina and her late husband Howard of 56 years both left an indelible mark on all of the communities they lived in, leaving a legacy of volunteerism, education and cultural awareness.

Survivors include her beloved children, Joshua Barnett Sinsley (Debbie) of Atlanta, GA, Jay Iskols Sinsley (Barbara) of Atlanta, GA, Kate Gabrielle Freedman (Richard) of New York City, NY; and six grandchildren, Jeff Sinsley (Steph), Eric Sinsley, Harris Sinsley (Heidi), Haley Sinsley, Hendless Freedman, and Bergman Freedman; great-granddaughter, Harper Sinsley; and sister, Joanne Schoen (George) of New York.

A graveside service took place at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 in Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
