Dr. Rachel Sara Permuth, age 47, of Gaithersburg, Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Tampa, Florida after nearly a 2.5 year battle with metastatic colorectal cancer.  Rachel was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin and lived in Peoria, Illinois, Louisville, Kentucky, Cleveland, Ohio, Tampa, and in the Rockville/Gaithersburg, Maryland area. She held two Bachelor of Arts degrees (in Mathematics and Psychology) from Bradley University, a Master of Science degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Public and Community Health from the University of Maryland. Rachel's family, friends, and colleagues have continuously admired her compassion, perseverance, and determination to help others, and her legacy will live on through the countless individuals that she inspired and the lives that she has touched.
