Richard Connolly

CONNOLLY, Richard, passed away on May 5, 2023. He was born April 30th, 1945 in County Sligo, Ireland. He immigrated to New York in the early 1970's and was employed by Local 32 BJ Union. 

Richard has four daughters. He is one of the original "Girl Dads". He survived raising Catherine Keane, Maura Connolly, Sara Connolly and Eileen Clarke. Richard had six grandsons and one granddaughter which he referred to as his "girl". Richard is also survived by sisters Kate and Sarah as well as several nieces and nephews from his extended family in Ireland and New York City. 

His love of food was immense and he enjoyed a great BBQ at the beginning of summer season. Richard loved to travel and would return yearly to Ireland which he referred to as "HOME". He also went on several cruises where he would enjoy the food and drink! Shore Road back in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, was a favorite place to watch the boats pass by and look for a good chat as well. After all, he was a "rather chatty fellow". 

Richard moved to Tampa, Florida, to be closer to his family. He loved to play board games and dominos with his grandkids. 
Richard had the chance to celebrate his 78th birthday recently. He insisted on receiving a watch as a present. I think he was trying to tell us it was time. Fly high with the angel's Dad/Grandpa. We all love you more than you probably knew. 
Memorial contributions can be made in Richard's honor to The American Diabetes Association.

A visitation will take place at Segal Funeral Home on Thursday, 5/11 from 5:00PM - 6:00PM with a memorial service to follow at 6:00PM. The service will be livestreamed via zoom and the information is below.
