Richard John Rolfes

Richard John Rolfes was born in Covington, KY on January 18, 1934, the first child of Al Rolfes and Kathleen Higgins Rolfes. He grew up in various parts of northern Kentucky attending Catholic schools. He graduated from Covington Latin School in 1949. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Richard received his Bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati, thanks to the GI Bill, and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Economics also from UC. This launched him into a career in banking in Cincinnati and Dayton, OH. He became a Certified Financial Analyst and managed investments for trust accounts. In 1998, he retired from Society Bank as the Senior Vice President of Trust Investments. Retirement gave him more time to work on his Contract Bridge game to become a Silver Life Master. He also held a number of volunteer roles in his Unitarian fellowships in Dayton, OH and Clearwater, FL. Richard and his second wife, Susan Allen, moved to St, Petersburg, FL in 2003. He died on August 15, 2024 after a number of years of dealing with Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, his son Richard, daughter Tabatha, and six grandchildren. All who knew him experienced his intelligence, kindness, integrity, generosity, and sense of humor. He was a beloved son, brother, father, husband, and grandfather and will be sorely missed.
