Roger Melvin Cohen

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, Roger Melvin Cohen, of Sarasota, Fl, beloved
husband and father, passed away. He was ninety-six. Born to Celia and Casper
Cohen in Brookline Massachusetts, Roger was drafted into the Airforce on his
18th birthday and later graduated Boston University. He went on to work
alongside his father as an accountant for Casper Cohen and Company. Roger was
set up on a blind date with Nancy (Sandler) who became his wife. They were
married for 49 wonderful years. During this time, they were blessed with two
children, Andrew Cohen and Amy (Cohen) Smith whom they raised them in
Andover, Massachusetts. His loved his children with all his heart. Roger’s family
was complete when his daughter married Brian Smith, and they had his two
grandchildren, Avery and Emily. They were Roger’s pride and joy. He also adored
his niece, Pam Field, and nephews, Ronald and David Wayne. Family was
everything to him.
Outside of his family, Roger was passionate about the stock market, golf, his
lifelong friendships, and watching his favorite sports teams on tv with his son and
grandchildren. He especially loved watching the Patriots, Buccaneers, Rays,
Lightning and of course, his favorite, the Boston Red Sox. A favorite memory of
Roger’s was holding his newborn grandson, Avery, in his arms while the Red Sox
won the World Series in 2004. He said at that moment that he now had
everything he had ever wanted in his lifetime.
Roger will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 
A private burial was held on November 18, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please make a
