June 21, 1933 - July 25, 2023

Ruth Glickman died with dignity at the age of 90 on July 25, 2023 in Tampa, Florida where she resided since 1957.

Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Kansas City, MO. She was the daughter of Morris and Marie Singer.

Ruth studied to be a Dental Assistant then married young. She was an Army wife in her early days of marriage to Dr. Lawrie B. Glickman, and then partnered with him as manager of his dental practice in Tampa, FL.

The world is a better place because of Ruth Glickman. She was a mother, grandmother, sister to three siblings, wife, loyal friend, community leader, blood donor, avid volunteer, compassionate soul, and so much more.

She was a natural when it came to helping others. Whether it was driving friends to places when they couldn't drive any longer, or helping some one with other needs, Ruth was more than ready to lend a kind, selfless hand.

She led by example promoting the importance of exercising your right to vote. She was a voracious reader, loved going to movies and sharing meals with family and friends, and tried to get people to understand the value of a healthy lifestyle while making efforts towards the sustainability of our planet.

Her compassion and generosity echoed beyond her inner circle. She volunteered for 30 years every Sunday at Tampa General Hospital and nine years on the Board for Menorah Manor (now Menorah Life).  She volunteered for JCC, Guardian Ad Litem and the RSVP Senior Services programs. She served as president of Hadassah and Temple Schaarai Zedek's Sisterhood. From 1962-1963, Ruth was the president of the Hillsborough County Dental Auxiliary and then went onto being president of the statewide Dental Auxiliary in 1966/1967. Those are a few examples of her countless other roles in service to humanity.

She is and will be missed, but her legacy and impact on the world remains.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Lawrie B. Glickman, D.D.S., and by two siblings: Golda Rosen and Rubin Singer.

She is survived by her three children: Ron Glickman of Tampa, FL, Nancy Glickman of Bokeelia, FL and Susan Glickman of Belleair Beach, FL; by daughter-in-law Karen D. Liller, PhD., by sons-in-law Robert N. Macomber and Curt Anderson, and by her cherished grandchildren Jacob D. Glickman & Sam E. Glickman.

Ruth is also survived by her sister Harriet Singer Dorf and brother-in-law Jerry Dorf, plus a long list of nieces, nephews, first, second and third cousins, many of whom stayed in touch regularly.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree and offer a random act of kindness in Ruth's honor.

A Memorial Service will take place at  Segal Funeral Home on Sunday, August 6th. Family and friends will gather from 2-3pm, followed by a short service led by Rabbi Joel Simon at 3pm.
