Sharon Ann Rozelle

Bessie and George Haymond welcomed Sharon Ann Haymond
into their world on June 29, 1938. Little did they know that she would
experience ration stamps, black outs, air raid sirens, P38’s, and blimps
in their humble home in San Diego, California.

My fondest childhood memory was the Saturday we spent in the
yard catching butterflies. Sharon always had a passion for the unique
butterfly. Our dad made us butterfly nets to catch the lofty insects. Of
course James and I decided we like catching them, but we didn’t want to
harm them. We left Sharon outside to study her insects in depth. At that
time we knew she had skills beyond ours. It became clear that Sharon was good with academics andcollege was in her future. She excelled in chemistry and other sciences.
Her degree was physics, but her work experience was heavy in chemical
electroplating for airplanes parts. In the sixties, San Diego lost most of
its airplane industry and she switch her chemical experience to private
testing labs.

She married Richard Percy Rozelle in 1979. Unfortunately, he
passed away in 1984; they had no children. Sharon eventually left San Diego and
moved to Tampa, Florida to reinvent herself. She started a real estate
business and eventually landed a job with the City of Tampa in the water
department analyzing drinking water purity.

Sharon joined several organizations: Lutheran Women’s Missionary
League with the Saint John Lutheran Church, Toast Masters, Lion’s Club,
and Soroptimists.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Iris and David
Corning.

We miss you Sha - Sha
