Eleanor Hyman

Marie Hyman passed away May 10, 2021 at the age of 84. She joined the love of her life, husband David who left this world 11 years ago. Marie's life was hardly boring. Few people knew that Marie broke Elvis Presley’s heart. They dated when she was young and he fell for her hard... when she broke up with him for the love of another, he wrote a song called “Marie” for her. It became one of Elvis’ top 30 hits... lucky David. Marie was a talented theater actress appearing in many local plays, as well as off-Broadway in New York City. She was a beautiful singer and piano player. Frankly, she was great at whatever she did. But more than all else, she was devoted to her family. She stood by her husband’s side through good times and bad. She taught her daughters how to be strong, independent women. Her favorite saying to her girls was that no matter what the challenge, “you always come through.” Marie was also one of the funniest people God put on this earth and was most giving. She always put others before herself and was there to listen and comfort those who needed it. Her laughter, devotion and generosity will stay with us all. She is survived by the two people she loved most, her daughters Julia Marie Hyman Tomala and Jennifer Claire Hyman. Our hearts are broken but you will always be inside of us. Be at peace, momma. We love you.

Private graveside services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, 3607 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa FL 33607.
